FAQs.
What I should do to prepare for my Pulp Lash appointment?
1. Remove all eye makeup and clean your lashes with mild, oil free cleanser or a Pulp Lash Spa artist will do it for you.
2. Please don’t use oil based makeup removers to clean your lashes prior to the application, the less oil the better for proper adhesive of lashes.
3. Try not to wear any mascara the day of your appointment. Removing mascara just eats into your appointment time.
4. Please do not wear your contact lenses to your appointment. Try to wear glasses or bring a lens case and remove them when you arrive.
5. Plan to set aside 1 to 3 hours for your initial full set appointment (time depends on artists experience) and your follow up fill appointments are done by minutes. Select the amount of time you believe we will need to get you back to a fullness you desire. Our lounge has a very zen-like feeling, so don't hesitate to relax and fall asleep. You will awaken with beautiful lashes!
What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are individual lashes usually made out of synthetic materials. Pulp Lash Spa uses single Mink-Feel lashes exclusively because they are a high quality lash. The mink-feel lashes are attached to your eyelashes individually, not to your skin. Women are using eyelash extension services for a number of reasons, but the best one is because you do NOT need to use mascara while wearing these Eyelash Extensions. This service is meticulous, intense and time consuming at first. Our artists have immense skill and precision. Once applied, these lashes are so natural looking it is difficult to tell even up close that you are wearing them. They are virtually weightless. Our volume lashes are also mink-feel and totally safe!
I heard Eyelash Extensions will damage my natural lashes?
Individual eyelash extensions do NOT damage the natural growth and cycle of your lashes if applied by a Pulp Lash artist. The Eyelash Extensions will adhere to your natural lashes softly and comfortably while not damaging your natural lashes or causing the natural lashes to fall out. Please do NOT remove the Eyelash Extensions on your own. If you no longer wish to wear extensions, we are happy to remove them for you just book a removal appointment.
If the artists are not trained properly, eyelash extensions could possibly damage your lashes–leaving you with ugly “bald spots.” The Eyelash Extension process is one of meticulous detail and your results depend on the skill of your technician and the quality of the products. There are those who call themselves Eyelash Extension artists, but in actuality they have not attended training classes and received legitimate certification. Make sure you go to a legitimate spa for your lashes to ensure they are done properly.
Pulp Lash Spa trains all of its artists with hands-on volunteers, training videos and knowledgeable, and seasoned master artist on hand to assist. We offer eyelash extensions as our main focus, making our spa the experts in this field.
How long do the Eyelash Extensions last?
Every client varies on how long their lashes will last based on lash cycle, sleep habits and daily make up wearing habits. The life of the lashes is wholly up to the clients NATURAL LASHES and how well they take care of them after leaving our spa. The extensions will remain on your lashes for your natural lash life. If clients have sparse or weak natural lashes, the extensions will not last as long as they will on one with thicker, fuller natural lashes. A normal lash growth/shed cycle is 30-90 days; most people shed natural lashes at a rate of 1-2 lashes/per day/per eye during this cycle of natural lashes. New lashes immediately grow and replace the lost lash. Your lash extensions can stay on up to 5 weeks with proper care and maintenance. If you choose to keep them touched up, expect to need a touch up anywhere form 2 to 4 weeks out. Lastly, general after care will affect how long the lashes last. Pulp Lash Spa sends all of our new clients home with an aftercare instruction sheet.
Who wears Eyelash Extensions?
Women everywhere who no longer wish to be encumbered by the time consuming process of mascara. Lash extensions can be worn by anyone ages 16 to 88! They are great for busy moms, professional women, brides, mature women; any woman who wants to save time getting ready everyday and look beautiful waking up, going to sleep, all of the time. Women who don’t want to worry about mascara and the smears or clumps it brings. Women who don’t want the hassle of eyelash curlers. Women who don't want to continue to damage their delicate under eye area by rubbing off mascara daily, or wake with the dark circles of mascara smears when your too tired to remove your make up.
Can I wear mascara with my Eyelashes?
Eyelash extensions are black like mascara, your lashes will look like your wearing mascara already. Rubbing directly on the lashes, or using mascara remover will weaken the glue bond. This may also twist the extensions or make them fall out. We strongly recommend that you avoid wearing mascara, curling and rubbing your Eyes or pulling the extensions, however you may wear our specially formulated Pulp Lash Serum. This serum keeps your natural lash healthy as well as adding extra volume to your extensions. There is no need to remove the lash serum, it will not cause build up as it is water based.
Can the Eyelash Extensions be removed?
Yes, at any time and for any reason. They can be easily removed by a Pulp Lash artist. Please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own as you will damage your natural lashes.
Caring for my new Eyelash Extensions?
Following the important after-care instructions we gave you at your initial visit, they will assist in extending the life of your lash extensions. The first 12 hours following your application are most crucial! Please do not to rub your eyes, pull your lashes, or scratch your lids near your lashes. All creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing oils will loosen the bond of the lash extensions. Apply eye cream sparingly while avoiding the lash line area completely. When showering, avoid direct contact with the water on your extensions. Do not use a steam bath, swim, or wash your face directly with hot water during your initial 24 hours of the application.
It is not necessary to use an eyelash curler, your Pulp Lash Spa Eyelash Extensions come curled already. NEVER use a regular Eyelash curler, it WILL break both the lash extension and your natural lashes.
Do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face, gently clean around the eye area with a wash cloth or fingers.
Do not pull on your lash extensions, it will rip out your own natural lash as well.
What happens if a lash loosens or becomes dislodged?
Do not pull on the lash; contact Pulp Lash Spa and make an appointment to have them replaced. As your natural lashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need fills every 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 weeks due to the lash cycle. Every client varies on how long their lashes will last based on lash cycle, sleep habits and daily make up wearing habits. As your natural lashes become accustomed to the extensions - coupled with care and maintenance - the time between refills will be less frequent.
Natural Lash Perming.
We use perming chemicals to achieve the desired curl, as such there are risks to your eyes and eye area. These risks for lash perming include skin irritation, burning, swelling, itching, allergic reactions, etc. If you are allergy prone or have sensitive eyes, it is not recommended to undergo this procedure.
